What If Leadership Was Less Power and More Purpose?

What If Leadership Was Less Power and More Purpose?

Finding Direction Without a Script

Ever wonder how to keep going when everything feels like it’s shifting under your feet? I’ve been there too. Leadership shows up in the choices you make when things are uncertain. The real question is this: Are you staying grounded in your values while creating space for people to thrive?

Real leadership starts long before the spotlight, in the everyday work of showing up, earning trust, and holding to your values.

The world gets noisy. Purpose speaks louder.

Great cultures take shape through consistent choices. In this talk, prepared for Conscious Capitalism, I outlined steps to consistently make choices that support leading with love. When everything around you pulls for attention, the way you communicate, what you prioritize, and the environments you create for people to thrive determine where you’re headed. Clarity in action builds trust in uncertain times and keeps people grounded, motivated, and moving forward together.

This lens shapes how I lead, speak, and show up.

This talk, delivered at the City Club of Cleveland, explored how systems change in the workforce requires going beyond traditional models of workforce development to create opportunities that give employees an advantage. Especially through seasons of growth, realignment, and uncertainty. The outcomes we earned came down to what happened in the small moments. The clarity we created, the trust we built, and the decisions that showed people they mattered. Culture isn’t a side effect of good leadership, it’s the work.

For me, leadership is simple: show up with purpose, lead with love.
